Through my new job as a Property Technician, I with my coworkers received forklift and cherry picker training today. The training started out with a really graphic video of people getting stabbed with forklifts, hands smashed, and people trampled with the equipment. I found myself becoming nauseous with all of the fake blood that poured from the actor's mouths. Uh!
After lunch we started with the hands on equipment training which was a bit intimidating but fun! The following photos are of myself on the outside forklift that a coworker took.

Off the Beaten Track
Yesterday my boyfriend and I stopped at his work, the Poisoned Pen, so that he could clean up some books we just bought at Savers to resell. James W. Hall was at the Pen to give a lecture about his writings and also to sign his latest novel, "Magic City." I am ashamed to say I haven't read any of his books yet but wanted to stay to hear him talk. I was relieved to hear that he is very down to earth and has a great sense of humor. (Some of the well known authors who come to talk at the Poisoned Pen have a bit of an ego.) He had some very comical stories about how some of his books were optioned in Hollywood and some great insight about how our literature is changing with each subsequent generation. I left feeling a little more educatated than when I came in.

Where have I been?
Well actually I have a good excuse. I have been hired from the City of Tempe as a Police Property Technician and the last two weeks have been exhausting! I am not used to getting up in the morning at 4 AM to be at work at 6 AM. I work a Monday thru Friday 9-80 shift which means that every two weeks I work nine hours a day for eight days, then eight hours for one day and one day in the week off. I used to get every other Monday off but it was recently it was changed to Friday so that now I can go to some estate sales. Woo Hoo! I have been experimenting with some new items for my shop so I haven't totally been neglecting my work.
This is a pillow I made yesterday that I just totally love. This morning I realized that I forgot to quilt the top so I am unsure of whether I'll take it apart or leave it like this.

These are a couple of collages I made that are currently hanging in my bathroom.

Rainy Day!
Oooh how I love rainy days! Especially those that I can just stay home, eat popcorn and watch a good movie.
I listed some new stuff on Etsy today and will be going to some estate sales tomorrow. In between downpours I took this pic while I was snapping shots of my items for Etsy.
I liked the colors and thought this looked surreal and decided to share. Hee hee!

Great Finds at Estate Sales!
This weekend I spent Thursday and Friday at estate sales. Boy was it successful! The majority of it I found at an Phoenix estate sale on Friday that was the best one I had been to in a long time! There was stuff everywhere. Please forgive my huge picture post.
I saw a basket like this a couple of weeks at Anthropologie and have been wanting to make one but didn't know how. Until now. I found this at a rummage sale for 5 cents!
This cute apple fabric is part of an apron. It is huge so I am thinking of either using the fabric for something else or making the apron smaller.

This cute dress I picked up for two dollars.
There are 1000 vocab cards in this deck I thought would be cool for collage. I don't know whether I will keep these or sell them yet.
I picked up these stamps for 75 cents for all. I might list some of these on Etsy.
I liked the style of this apron but I thought it was a little plain. I was thinking of adding some embroidery or vintage fabrics to this to make it more exciting.
I've been looking for some old measuring tape for a while. I thought it would be cute to use this in some new potholders.
