Rainy Day!

Oooh how I love rainy days! Especially those that I can just stay home, eat popcorn and watch a good movie.

I listed some new stuff on Etsy today and will be going to some estate sales tomorrow. In between downpours I took this pic while I was snapping shots of my items for Etsy.

I liked the colors and thought this looked surreal and decided to share. Hee hee!

Great Finds at Estate Sales!

This weekend I spent Thursday and Friday at estate sales. Boy was it successful! The majority of it I found at an Phoenix estate sale on Friday that was the best one I had been to in a long time! There was stuff everywhere. Please forgive my huge picture post.

I saw a basket like this a couple of weeks at Anthropologie and have been wanting to make one but didn't know how. Until now. I found this at a rummage sale for 5 cents!
This cute apple fabric is part of an apron. It is huge so I am thinking of either using the fabric for something else or making the apron smaller.
This cute dress I picked up for two dollars.

There are 1000 vocab cards in this deck I thought would be cool for collage. I don't know whether I will keep these or sell them yet.

I picked up these stamps for 75 cents for all. I might list some of these on Etsy.

I liked the style of this apron but I thought it was a little plain. I was thinking of adding some embroidery or vintage fabrics to this to make it more exciting.

I've been looking for some old measuring tape for a while. I thought it would be cute to use this in some new potholders.

An Old Maid game from the 60's for only 35 cents. I think I'll sell these on Etsy.

An old plastic horse for $1. I saw some similar animals on another blog and had to have this one.

Some trim with "houses". May use this in some potholders but may sell some as well.

Some old hankies made of cotton. Oh how I love colorful cotton hankies.

Some old vintage buttons. May sell but I soooo have a thing for red buttons.

I got a few books as well that I will be selling on Amazon. If only every estate sale weekend was like this.

Yesterday much was accomplished in the sewing arena. I completed three whole aprons! My favorite is the owl apron. I found this owl embroidery in a crappy frame at Savers and knew when I bought it I could use it for something really cute. I'm so into this apron making hobby that I think I am going to make something for Tie One On. The theme this month for Tie One On is Valentine's day and I'm thinking of doing something odd and out of the ordinary.

Work and Play

This morning I woke up at 3 AM. My body said, time to wake up, even though my brain said, no no no. So now this afternoon I am feeling really brainless.
This weekend I went to quite a few estate sale and picked up some great stuff. My top find was a real Gucci handbag that I purchased for a dollar. I listed it on Ebay on Saturday and can't wait until the final minutes of the auction. Some other purses which are similar went for over $100 dollars!
Last evening my boyfriend and I went out with my parents and my half brother and his family to Abuelos mexican restaurant. They had some great Diego Rivera-ish murals up on the walls. The picture shown was my favorite. The food was really good and the chips they served were so good I couldn't stop eating them. They were really light and fluffy. Everyone received their own dish of salsa so you didn't have to worry about those double dippers.
On the work front, I listed about seven new potholders on Etsy including a new design of a fried egg potholder which is why I haven't posted a new blog in a while- I've been busy producing more stuff for Etsy. Between yesterday and today I sold four more items including the egg potholder and a previous buyer wants to purchase more from me. Yay!

Potholders- Sold out!

I sold out of my potholders this morning. How exciting! More will definitely come. This weekend also I picked up a few cute items that will be appearing in my shop on Monday. Keep watching!

Dental Bill- $4861

Yes that is correct. My dental bill is almost five thousand dollars! I went to the dentist on Tuesday to be the responsible person to get my teeth cleaned. I knew that my bill was going to be large because I am well aware that I need two (yes, not one, two) dental implants. Two of my teeth were baby teeth that did not have any adult teeth under them and were receeding. I had the dentist take them out at the end of last year and now is the time for the big bucks at the oral surgeon. (Who's bill is not included in the $4861 by the way.) Sigh. Two of the "resins" on this bill were found on Tuesday. Good deeds never go unpunished.

Sold three items! Woo Hoo!

I am soooo excited! I have already sold three items from Etsy. My first completed transaction where the buyer actually pays right away occurred this morning. This is just amazing how complete strangers want to buy something I thought of and made. I will be listing more items (some handmade and some vintage I recently found) today. Yay!!

My Shop is Now Open!

Yeah! New Year means new opportunities! This year I am really going to try hard to make some really cute things and promote my new shop, "An Appeal to Heaven." I have so many vintage items that I've found at estate sales that I will list as well. I started my shop on December 28th which is probably not the best time (after Christmas, doh!) to sell stuff but late is better than never!
