Work Completed

Here are three zippered pouches that I completed yesterday. They are all lined with solid colored fabric. My favorite of the three is the one with the red bird peeking out the side.

Today I went thrifting but didn't find anything so I went to this fabric shop in Phoenix called Quiltz. I had always wanted to go in but could never find the time before today. They had the softest cotton fabric I had ever felt but it was going for 8 to 9 dollars a yard. Yikes! I ended up buying three fat quarters for $2.40 each. I figured I would use the fabric sparingly in some small projects. Here is what I bought.

Tomorrow morning there is a huge estate sale. The ad says they have lots of vintage linens and I am so excited!

Thanks that Thanksgiving is OVER!

Only one one more painful holiday to go- Christmas.

I've been working on cleaning up my workspace so that I can actually get some sewing done. Also this weekend I bought a jacket for my dog because he has been freezing! I wasn't quite sure if he would like the coat since he doesn't like most of his clothing

but it was love at first sight! He adores the coat.

Thanks for Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for:

  • My family
  • My boyfriend and his generosity
  • That I was able to recently quit the job that I hated.
  • My chihuahua, Chico
  • My fabric collection. YUM!
  • My reliable car
  • My dentist (thank god I finally found a good one)
  • COBRA
  • Chocolate
  • Quitting that stupid job (did I say that already?)
  • Living in a free country (even if it is run by an idiot)
  • Crafting blogs
  • Blogger
  • Grocery stores
  • Savers

and finally.....great estate sales.

Last night on a whim I had an idea to make some cute coasters. I had this image of a chihuahua already saved on the computer. I cut out the dog after ironing some fusable webbing to the back. Then I ironed the dog to the gray fabric and the gray fabric to some thick stiff interfacing. I added dark blue felt to the back and sewed all three layers together. They took a couple hours to make and I love them!

Happy Titos-giving!

My boyfriend Leslie gives me a handmade card every major holiday. This creative endevour started last Christmas when I complained to my family that instead of buying gifts we should make them. This idea never goes over well. However, Leslie gave me a Christmas card that he made.
The front cover...

...and inside.

He will spend hours looking for the right image out of a catalog or magazine and cut them out. He doesn't think it's creative but I totally disagree.

(FYI- For those of you who don't know him, he is completely obsessed with my chihuahua Chico, nicknamed Tito. He presently calls everything Tito which might or might not explain some of these cards.)

Here is one that he made for my birthday.

And one that he made this year for Thanksgiving or what he likes to think as "Titos-giving."

I just think these cards are the best!

Happy Titos-giving!

Estate Sale Finds

This weekend I started working on a new skirt. I am using an old 60's skirt pattern that I picked up at a estate sale with a bunch of other old patterns- all for $1!!

This is what it looks like so far. Nothing is sewn yet. Just pinned.

I am using this really great fabric I bought at Hancock fabrics and a material I found at the Goodwill that was an unused rice sack. So cool!

Also, this weekend I picked up this old handsewn quilt for 4 dollars! I actually spotted this quilt last weekend on my estate sale adventures but I thought 8 dollars was too much. I went to the same estate sale this weekend and everything was half off!
Hello Blog world!

The goal of my new blog is to share my addiction to crafting, sewing, and estate/garage sale finds. I hope you will find it fun to read.
