Off the Beaten Track

Yesterday my boyfriend and I stopped at his work, the Poisoned Pen, so that he could clean up some books we just bought at Savers to resell. James W. Hall was at the Pen to give a lecture about his writings and also to sign his latest novel, "Magic City." I am ashamed to say I haven't read any of his books yet but wanted to stay to hear him talk. I was relieved to hear that he is very down to earth and has a great sense of humor. (Some of the well known authors who come to talk at the Poisoned Pen have a bit of an ego.) He had some very comical stories about how some of his books were optioned in Hollywood and some great insight about how our literature is changing with each subsequent generation. I left feeling a little more educatated than when I came in.
